Oh Lord, oh Lord!
I call for You, yet You do not answer!
I search for You endlessly,
and my soul grows restless.
I search in the great churches,
monuments to your will.
Between the pews and the parishes,
homes of the faithful.
And yet You still do not answer,
and my soul grows restless.
I search for You in my mind
Prayer after prayer directed toward Your grace
I comb the great works of those who came before
seeking a presence between the pages.
And yet You still do not answer,
and my soul grows restless.
I search for you in my people,
in the faces if my companions,
so intimately constructed in Your perfect likeness.
Among the acts of the blessed and cursed alike,
done in crude imitation of Your perfect intention.
And once more You still do not answer,
and my soul grows restless.
It reviles its fate,
spurned by its Creator.
It abandons its ultimate goal,
heaven seeming but a fanciful tale.
And yet...
When I have ceased calling,
and my journey seems at an end.
And when the odds have stacked against me,
pain and pleasure in all the wrong places.
And I cannot bear the weight any longer,
yet to share it seems a burden...
You answer.
For my soul has finally, truly, called out,
and what Creator would abandon His children?
